Introduction
A seven–day special camp was organized from 08.12.2025 to 14.12.2025 with the objective of promoting social awareness, community service, and active student participation in rural development activities at GollalaYendada village. Various programmes such as awareness rallies, medical camps, environmental initiatives, surveys, and cultural activities were conducted during the camp period. The camp aimed to improve community health, cleanliness, and social awareness among villagers.

Day 1: 08.12.2025 – Inauguration Programme
The seven-day camp commenced with a formal and well-organized Inauguration Programme, setting a purposeful tone for the activities to follow. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Sri Lodagala Appa Rao, 8th Ward Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Corporator whose presence added significance to the occasion. The Guest of Honour, SIMS Executive Director Smt. S. Deepika Das, along with special invitees such as SIMS Principal Dr. U. Lawrence, SIMS Director Dr. V. Sai Prasanth, CMT B-School Director Dr. D. Archana, SIMS IQAC Coordinator Dr.K. Yasoda and SIMS NSS Program Officer (P.O) Mr. G Sudhakar further enriched the programme with their valuable presence and insights.
The programme was attended by faculty members, NSS coordinators, volunteers, village representatives, and local residents. The event began with a welcome address introducing the objectives and significance of the camp. Inspiring speeches emphasized youth participation in nation-building and community service.
Volunteers were given a detailed briefing regarding the camp schedule, discipline, teamwork, and expected outcomes. Overall, the inauguration programme successfully instilled enthusiasm and responsibility among the volunteers.
Day 2: 09.12.2025 – Plantation & Clean and Green Programme
The second day of the camp focused on environmental sustainability through plantation drives and village cleaning campaigns. Volunteers planted saplings in public areas such as schools, roadsides, and community centres to enhance green cover and ecological balance.
A village-wide cleaning campaign was conducted where volunteers removed waste, cleaned streets, and spread awareness about hygiene and waste disposal. The programme promoted cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and public health awareness.
Day 3: 10.12.2025 – General Medical Camp
A General Medical Camp was organized in association with Pinnacle HCG Cancer Centre. Specialized healthcare professionals conducted health screenings including blood pressure and blood sugar tests.
Villagers received medical consultations, preventive guidance, and free medicines. Awareness sessions highlighted cancer prevention, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Day 4: 11.12.2025 – Village Survey
Volunteers conducted a comprehensive village survey focusing on health, sanitation, education, and livelihood conditions. Direct household interactions enabled the collection of reliable socio-economic data.
The survey helped identify challenges such as sanitation gaps, limited healthcare access, and employment issues, forming a foundation for future development initiatives.
Day 5: 12.12.2025 – Drug Awareness Programme
A Drug Awareness Programme was conducted to educate villagers about the harmful effects of substance abuse. Volunteers explained physical, mental, and social consequences of drug addiction.
Interactive sessions encouraged healthy life choices and promoted drug-free living among youth and community members.
Day 6: 13.12.2025 – AIDS Awareness Rally
An AIDS Awareness Rally was organized to educate villagers about HIV/AIDS prevention. Volunteers carried placards, distributed pamphlets, and explained preventive measures.
The programme promoted stigma-free support and emphasized safe practices and early diagnosis.
Day 7: 14.12.2025 – Cultural Programme and Valedictory
The final day included cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, and cultural activities. Volunteers cleaned public spaces and educated villagers about sanitation and waste management.
The cultural programme encouraged community participation and marked the successful completion of the NSS Special Camp.
Conclusion
The seven-day NSS Special Camp proved to be a highly meaningful and impactful initiative that fulfilled its objectives of community service, social awareness, and student engagement. The camp strengthened leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility among volunteers.
